MINI GRYFF GUIDES
Helpful descriptions of the various subcommunities as they pertain to your own interests!

A Guide for Gryffindors that Love Graphics:
So you like to make pretty things? Be sure to join hogwartsicons, sortedchallenge, hp_flourish and hh_sugarquill!

Hogwarts Icons is a community that focuses on graphics revolving around the Harry Potter books and movies, along with the actors who are featured in the movies. Despite the name, graphics here are not limited to just icons.

You can earn up to 125 points per week through hogwartsicons.
There are no bonus items for this community.
The HI week ends on Sunday nights at 11:59pm UTC.

Sorted Challenge is a community with weekly prompts and icon challenges. Each week, you can submit up to two icons fitting the prompts given. Voting occurs over the weekend and winners are announced at the beginning of the following week. All winners recieve banners to display if they wish.

You can earn up to 50 points per week for placing first through sortedchallenge, although you can earn up to 20 points per week just for participating.

The SC challenge deadlines vary per week but are stated on the submission posts.

Flourish is where those who sorted you got all those gorgeous sigtags they used! Sigtags come in every style imaginable, and can be ordered easily from other members. You can also open a shop yourself, and earn major points for Gryffindor! You can also request other items from shops if offered, including but not limited to: journal layouts, banners/headers and icons!

You can earn up to 300* points per week through deliveries at hp_flourish.
There are no bonus items for this community.
The Flourish week (for delivering for points) ends on Sundays at 11:59pm UTC.

*300 points is the total for making a full delivery of non-themed tags. Total points earned is dependent on what you deliver, as more difficult things earn more points (layouts worth more points than icons, for example).

Sugarquill is a community for both fanfic and art pieces. There are prompts that you can fill for extra points, and just any medium is accepted -- from manipulations to Paint doodles to sketches with colored pencils. You can also submit graphic manipulations here.

A Guide for Gryffindors that Love Stamping:
So you like reading apps and deciding people's fates? Be sure to join platform_934, hh_stamping & hih_animagus!

Platform 9&3/4 is where each of us begin. Before joining hogwartsishome, everyone is required to be sorted at Platform in order to determine which Common Room they'll be joining. Obviously the general public saw a lot of Gryffindor in you or you wouldn't be here! Each week, a number of applications are dropped for all sorted members to vote on. Your choices are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, a No Vote, or a Muggle vote. The houses themselves are pretty self-explanatory. A No Vote should only be used if you are unable to decide between the four houses. A Muggle vote should only be used if you think the applicant is Pushing for a specific house (or catering their answers to try and sway the outcome of their votes).

You can earn up to 100 points per week through platform_934, although it will vary based on the number of applications dropped per week.
Participating in voting also earns you knuts.
There are no bonus items for this community.
The Platform voting week ends on Sundays at 11:59pm UTC.

HH Stamping is a community for filling out applications and being stamped in various categories. After you meet those criteria, you may apply to be stamped. The first application you'll need to fill out will be the Original Character stamp. After that, you're free to select from the other categories, depending on which will be accepted for each Stamping Weekend. The other themes include Matchmaker, Hybrid House, Wizarding Careers, Magical Creatures, Quidditch, Spells, Patronus, Potions, Inverse and Deathly Hallows.

The amount of points earned through hh_stamping varies per Stamping Weekend.
Having Who Am I? by Gilderoy Lockhart and Magical Me by Gilderoy Lockhart can earn you up to 10 bonus points per stamping weekend.
Participating in stamping also earns you knuts.
The deadline for Stamping Weeknds varies, but will be stated in a mod post at the community.

HIH Animagus is a community for discovering your inner animal! After getting the required items (copies of The Standard Book of Spells, volumes 1 through 5), fill out an application there, and people will nominate different animals that seem to fit your personality and choices. Once that's done, the mods will narrow it down to FOUR animals for you to choose from. When you've selected which one you'd like to be, you'll need to write a short essay and then you're done! If you've got an Animagus form, you'll get bonus points for voting on other Animagus apps.

Even if you're not interested in finding out your own form, you're still free to mosey on over here and place some votes for open applications -- the mods are always happy for more suggestions!

The amount of points earned through hih_animagus varies depending on how many applications are dropped.
Participating in stamping also earns you knuts.
Having an animagus form can earn you up to 10 bonus points per stamping batch.
The deadlines for voting vary based on how many applications are in the queue, but are typically held twice a month.

A Guide for Your First Hogsmeade Weekend:
Want to take part in a Hogsmeade Weekend? Be sure to join hogsmeadewkends!

Hogsmeade Weekends can be extremely overwhelming if you're thrust into it without any real idea of what to expect! To help clear it up a little, here are some things that regularly occur in a Hogsmeade weekend.

The weekend typically opens Friday evenings UTC. Each house is assigned a Social Director, and it's their job to be sure you're informed about the goings-on. Throughout the weekend (which extends from Friday evening to Monday morning, UTC), there will be a plethora of posts featuring social activities and points-earning activities hosted by various mods and club-leaders around HiH. One of the most anticipated activities is the Hogsmeade Ball, which usually happens on Saturday nights and features over a dozen comment threads with prompts for you to talk about your ball experience at (things like who is your date? or what are you wearing?).

In addition to the activities, there is a special catalog from hh_flourish shops and stalls. You can order gift tags for your favorite HiH members, along with special tags for yourself! Each tag ordered will contribute points to the house of the shop/stall's maker.

Stamping weekends typically coincide with Hogsmeade weekends as well, which means you have an extra opportunity to pick up points by voting on the applications that have dropped at hh_stamping.

More information related to Hogsmeade is dropped nearer to the Hogsmeade weekend, so keep on the lookout!
