October 8, 2005 - The day the sanctity of marriage died. ^_^
I love my kids so. They got married Saturday around 11 a.m. on top of a hill. Both wore the Excalibur necklaces I gave them without me saying a word. Then again, they always wear those necklaces. Best money I ever spent.
I'm very, very happy for them. Not because they're married, but that it's over. They've always been married, and their family disputes among the elders over a non-conventional wedding are finally at a halt. It was their style, their day, and they seemed to have a great deal of fun. I was really glad I took part in this.
It was short, simple, and so very sweet. Beautiful landscape, words cited, rings exchanged, and all done within 4 minutes and 30 seconds. Adam cashed in the money immediately after and the judge left with a smile on her face.
There was a big party after, mainly all family with maybe four other college students. It was really exciting to see what their families were like.
In the end, Sari threw her bouquet... and I ended up catching it. It was kinda weird, though funny. I guess Greta is going to have to wait until gay marriages are legal before she can marry Mike. I told her she'll need to explain this to her parents that, in order for her to marry a man, men must be able to marry other men. It was a good time, we had a ton of fun catching up.
I'm even more glad they invited myself and Larry. Less than 10 people were invited from our age group, the majority of the couple's childhood friends, and the four of us were the only ones there. Sure it was strange at first, but we realized how important we must be in their lives to be invited to something as special as this. I thought about the Excaliburs both of them wore on their wedding day, and it made me feel very... what word am I looking for... perhaps... influential. Instead of wearing the rings on their fingers, they both attached them to the chains on the Excaliburs. I almost cried. Almost, of course. ^_^;
My brother and sister got married, both of them now O'Neill's. It's so incestual and creepy, yet they've been married forever. It's so bizarre and yet so wonderful. I love them both so much. Larry, Adam, Sari, myself... it felt like Teh Asylum all over again. There were some bad memories, and apparently everyone remembers those, but I can't help but always remember the really good ones. I can't help but realize it was one of the best years I've had on this campus because of the company involved.
Those three are such a wonderful experience. I'd hate myself to lose contact with any of them throughout my life. My heart to all three.
