Some people, they ask me why I distrust the ability of government in general (and anarchy is NOT a preferable alternative). Usually, I rely on the well worn cliches about how government is a large hammer that hits nails indiscriminitely or something like that. Today, I have an actual example of a mistake similiar to one everybody's made, but that it takes government to make massive.

UK spends billions on ID cards, forgets to buy readers for cards
