I know we're going to meet some day in the crumbled financial institutions of this land. There will be tables and chairs, there'll be pony rides and dancing bears, there'll even be a band. 'Cause listen, after the fall there will be no more countries, no currencies at all. We're gonna live on our wits, we're gonna throw away survival kits, trade ( Read more... )

Ah, Andrew Bird. I need to hear more of his stuff. (I cheated and googled the lyrics to find out what this was from)

Yes! You need to listen to him! Everyone should. (But in a non-annoying way. I don't need him going mainstream.)

Oh God, I know. Nothing's worse than when an unknown artist you like finally gets some recognition, but ends up getting too much and suddenly half of their fan base consists of annoying teenage girls or something. : /

The only thing about Andrew Bird is some people may not consider him accessible, and he has a lot of let's just say, quirks, that could turn a lot of people off. I like the popularity he has now: enough people know/listen to him so that he's on my tv every once and awhile and such.

I know about the annoying teeanage girl fanbase ruining a band. I used to be a big Death Cab For Cutie fan (before Twilight, and their last two bad albums) but now I just can't tolerate them. Twilight mall tour? No thank you.

Yeah, very well said about Andrew Bird. A few of my favorite artists have that level of popularity, and that's the way I like it haha.

Oh God, a Twilight mall tour? Tell me your joking. I saw Death Cab a few months ago on MSU's (Michigan State University) campus because I was talked into going with some friends. I'd been familiar with them for a long time, but never was much of a fan. Cold War Kids opened and stole the show. I wasn't a big fan of theirs either, but their live performance won me over and Death Cab's was just dull and very nearly put me to sleep.

Speaking of Twilight, one of my favorite bands, Mute Math was featured on the first soundtrack and it scares me to death. I see more and more teenage girls listing them as a favorite band now. *shivers*

I saw Death Cab a few years back and they were pretty great. But this was before they gained all of their popularity. I hear that lately they've been awful live, which is disheartening.

Twilight, man, I just don't know. It's bad enough girls are listening to Iron and Wine now because he was on the first soundtrack. Bon Iver is on the new one, and while I don't think he'll catch on too well with the tween crowd, I can just imagine them all swooning over "Skinny Love."

I should have specified: Death Cab sounded fine when I saw them earlier in the year...they were just dull and played nothing but slow songs. I have nothing against slow songs, but it was a rough contrast from the opening band's set. Kind of like seeing Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez' Grindhouse double feature in the theater... Rodriguez' Planet Terror, an over the top, comical, disgusting zombie nonstop action film was first...then, after having already sat there for an hour and a half, comes Tarantino's Death Proof, which is good, but way too slow for coming second like that.

ANYWAY, yeah, again, I gotta agree wholeheartedly about the Twilight crap. I try to stay positive and just be happy that good artists are getting some much deserved attention...but does it HAVE to be tweens?
