Magic buildings in Cuba and Oz

This is the old theatre building in the central sq in Cienfuego - a beautiful city with old architecture kept up well as well as a proud history of participation in defending against the Bay of Pigs invasion. The central square is full of old french colonial buildings but everywhere we cycled in the city there were pink and green washed buildings - with grace and style - a real sense of beauty and pride.

By contrast this is the wall of a local school in a village where we took a short rest stop as we cycled through the countryside. calm shady place, heroic people to think about gracefully drawn.

In Havana - a peep inside a restored building.

This is a view across old Havana - stunning rooftops of buildings in Roman style

They really go to town with restorations!

No not the Uk, OZ - Melbourne

The Grand Hotel, Lorne, on the Great Ocean Road: my stepMum used to stay there in the 40s.

Birchgrove, a Sydney suburb. You get there by boat.

Sydney museum - modernity beside old buildings and aboriginal symbols about being connected to this place & the pain of being invaded.

beautiful Potts Point where my first hotel was. Recommended highly.

This is the shopping parade in Katoomba. Much of the old architecture remains.
