Wednesday Heart Attack...
Today was almost entirely consumed by grant-writing-related stuff.
Met with a collaborator to discuss a grant due Monday.
Worked on that grant.
Met with colleagues/collaborators about a grant due in February.
Sent a slightly passive-aggressive email to my chair about our "ranking" that just came out.*
Discussed plans for February grant with a collaborator.
Met with students briefly to ask for updates to put into February grant.
Complained about Air conditioning problems.
*My department is listed as 9th in the nation in research funding and 6th in federal funding. Sounds pretty good until you realize that funding includes several departments on this campus and departments on the other two campuses. I felt compelled to point it out. If everything were counted fairly our rank would be quite a bit lower. Being rich doesn't mean you're better, particularly when you're counting someone else's money in addition to your own. Granted, everyone else put together is about 20% of the total. Anyway, we've cracked the top ten. Woo. Hoo.
