I wish I'd thought of using my phone to look up the symbolism of individual paintings before I accidentally did so trying to figure out the names of the muses in that one painting. Art history has never been a strong subject of mine-- but it is interesting. Smart phones make art museums even more amazing places.
OH! Those 4 paintings of the stages of life? Turns out those are my boss's favorite paintings of like all time. He used to work for HUD and would drag people in there all the time to look at them. Apparently he got really excited one time and accidentally touched one while gesturing towards it and a guard picked him up by his suit and literally tossed him out of the building. I would have paid money to see this.
I don't think I'm qualified to talk about all museums. I do need to write a post about museums soon though. Such things will probably make more sense if I have time to ponder and revise rather than stream of consciousness.
There was something terribly existential about our conversation and the setting that afternoon. A bit more Rosencrantz and Guildenstern than Waiting For Godot :) It was awesome.
