Wandering all over the map! LOL! Worries yesterday, food today.
So we were watching a show yesterday on the electronic babysitter, and the Aunt on the show was making "Shoo Fly Pie."
Me thinks to me self. What the heck is 'Shoo Fly Pie' and why is it called that? Ha.
I google it (misspelled of course) and find nothing. Then this morning while planning dinner (yes at 8:30am I'm planning dinner) I find a simple Crock recipe for Chicken so Dh doesn't have to eat my dried out yucky WW Southern Oven Fried Chicken dinner this evening (we'll do Salsa Chicken with Spanish Rice and Salad instead.) Well the site I find has a recipe for 'Shoo Fly Pie.' So I google it again this time for pictures... and come across a site that has sampled Amish cuisine. Apparently the site author had the same misconception of Amish fare as I did, hearty homey cooking.
Anyway, I digress. I found a picture and a history and will try it ... I'm just not sure if this is the time to be loading up on a sugar filled recipe when the results of the GTT haven't come back yet... call me paranoid LOL!
anyway here is the link if you're interested....
If you've ever had a Shoo Fly Pie please share your thoughts... I'm curious! :)
http://www.marga.org/food/int/amish/pie.html In the mean time, I'll go search out a lower sugar, low fat dessert that i can truly sink my teeth into.
Suggestions?!
(looking for a hearty homey meal with a yummy not so sinful dessert!) :)
A Food In'FAT'uated friend! :)
