I know I need to finish writing about college but I had to take a minute to brag about Mike.
Early this afternoon, I asked him if he wanted latkes or tacos for dinner tonight and he asked me to wait until he got home. And then once Mike got home, he wasn't very hungry and wanted to wait to eat after Autumn went to bed which isn't terribly unusual. So we both puttered around straightening and trading off with the fussy monkey who has been kind of unhappy for a couple of days now.
Well, around 6, someone knocked on the door. I opened it, praying it wasn't the very nice Jehovah's Witnesses who come by occasionally to say hi even though I politely told them I was already a christian and not interested, only to find Mike's mom! She never drops by so it was a little weird, not unwelcome, just unusual. And the funny thing was that she didn't say why she was there or anything but started putting her stuff down. Finally, Mike announced that I needed to change because we were going out to eat! How cool is that? He called his mom at lunch time and asked her to come by and watch Autumn for us.
We ended up going to Bahama Breeze where I had my favorite dinner of coconut shrimp, an ulimate pina colada, and a chocolate island. Mike told me that he decided he wanted to do something nice for me since I take such good care of him and Autumn and to let me know that he appreciates me and knows that my job isn't easy because I don't get to go home from the office or take weekends or sick days. I almost cried. How sweet is that?
When we got home, Mike reminded me that I needed to show his mom the new food processor I got (my old one was a piece of crap, especially for how much I use a processor these days so we buckled down and got
this one--highly recommend it.). As I did that, he brought out a bag (a baby shower one, ha)--it was a
red ds lite! Apparently it's a limited edition and although he liked the blue better, he said he got the red because he knew I'd like it. He's been talking about getting me a new ds since I play
puzzle quest all the time but I didn't need one so I have been telling him not to worry ab out it. BUT I LOVE IT. So I am glad he did. The difference between the old one (which was starting to flicker) and the new one is like the difference between an HD tv and an older tv. Crazy stuff.
Yay for Mike! I'm so happy. Which is nice because I haven't been feeling well the last few days. What I nice treat!
