Its interesting how different my kids are with respect to learning new stuff and making sense of the world.
Riley is quick to make amazing connections and is finds the hidden meaning faster than you'd expect. However, he accepts almost everything said to him at face value. Or he makes up the details he didn't pay attention to and is very convincing in his delivery. It's an unusual mix of gullibility and savvy. Riley almost never asks questions, preferring to figure it out on his own, or simply invent a wild explanation.
Aidan, on the other hand, is always asking. He asks intelligent, logical questions. I can see the gears turning in there, trying to make sure he has all aspects of an idea straight in his head. He doesn't always grasp the concepts you try to tell him. He has to make the new fact fit somehow, and sometimes the straightforward explanation doesn't work. I sometimes need to explain a very simple concept in 4 different ways to get it to fit in his head. Like each fact is a tetris piece and while it's the same fact, it's got to be rotated into just the right position to fit in a predetermined spot in his brain.
Its all very cool.
