Babies

So I took my mom to see the documentary Babies a few weeks ago. I had read about it and it looked interesting and let's be honest...I friggin love babies. So I thought it would be cool for a few reasons. Partly because I could/do sit and watch babies become people all the time because I think it is totally interesting and adorable. Partly because it followed 4 babies from totally different cultures and that sounded both cool and smart.

I have to say, that movie hit me on so many levels. There was the OMG babies are so damn cute factor, but it was also a very interesting study in us as a people.
I am amazed at how it had changed my ummmm view of people. Not only babies, but like adults too. Doing the census, I knock on a HUGE variety of doors and who knows what is going to be behind it. I hate to say it, but I was dreading getting into those situations where the person who answers the door doesn't speak English, or kind of does, mostly because I truly hate not being able to understand someone. I had one woman who was trying SO hard to do the questions with me with some help from her son, and instead of getting frustrated with her, I found myself joking around with her instead. I think I might have anyway, but the baby movie kept flashing into my head and I was thinking...this woman is me.

I'm losing my train of thought and that pisses me off. Anyway. The film is fantastic and smart and moving and educational and if you are anything like me, you will find yourself at the end wanting more. Of course, I got more when I went home LOL. But it was really good.

If you find yourself with some spare time and want to see something that will make you smile and think, go see it. I wouldn't let anyone "get" it for me offline because I think it is important to financially support someone doing something smart in the world by going to the actual theater to see it. Plus I got to eat popcorn.
