I went to see the New York-bound revival of A Chorus Line tonight.
I think I could just go see this production once a year for the rest of my life. Thankfully, I have every reason to expect that that dream might just come true.
The new orchestrations suffer from having omitted all the string parts; there was one especially painful moment when a synthesizer was trying to mimic pizzicato strings. And the Cassie didn't wow me but I've always been a little bored by Cassie to begin with so it didn't bother me so much. Other than this, the show is very solid. "Sing" was a particular favourite of mine -- the woman playing Kristine really pwns it and makes it h3r own.
Ironically, they have an Asian boy playing Paul (who is meant to be a Puerto Rican pretending to be Italian).
