taken issue with Ms. Bellafonte's review of HBO's new production.

That said, I still love the first three books of the series, still am holding out hope for a summer release of book five (and hope that it will be good like the first three and not crap like the fourth), and eagerly anticipated the HBO series. I watched the first episode on Sunday night and enjoyed it. I like the casting and don't have any major issues with the make-up (I grew up watching the original Star Trek). I only really took issue with a couple of things and am hoping at least one of them still might be fixed in the next episode.
Finally, I ignored the review you refrence above when Martin first started blathering about it. Then, since you included that handy dandy link to the blog that had a handy dandy link to the review, I read it. And I think that woman has no idea what she's talking about.
I agree that she's free to say what she wants, but she said some really stupid things. I suspect that most of the comments and tweets she's had that call her an idiot are more about what she said about women reading/watching fantasy than about her take on the TV series. It was pretty ridiculous and blantantly sexist (yes, women can be sexist when they assume all other women have the same opinions they do).
I hope you have fun watching the first episode, even if you decide you need to shred it. You and Pesci crack me up.
