I don't, but I'm hoping to weasel into
this article through a friend. (Probably Loyal Reader Eric, who yet again keeps us up to date on interesting GRRM tidbits.) Do we think FTBG and Is Winter Coming? might be mentioned?
I must say, I was never contacted for an interview. But I'm eager to read this piece; if you get a chance, let us know what you think. Personally, I'm happy the issue is being discussed, regardless of the side you take on the matter. (Of course, if you're reading this blog, I can probably guess which side you're on.)
(Side note: This article is dated 4/11/11. Has the New Yorker developed the ability to read...the future?)
UPDATE: A kind friend gave me access to the article online, and I have to say, it's quite impressive work. There's a lot of material you probably already know and are familiar with--background information, HBO series stuff, biographical info on George, etc.--but the most relevant material comes on pages 36 and 37, the final two pages of the essay, in which author Laura Miller quotes your truly (via my blog postings) and gives a large amount of time to our friend Remy at Is Winter Coming? The essay is long (hey, it's the New Yorker), but definitely worth a read.
UPDATE #2: If you can't read the article, you can listen to the
audio interview with author Laura Miller. It doesn't have nearly the depth or breadth of the article, but instead gives a bit of an overview to the whole issue of George, the GRRMLins, the GRRMblers, and so on. Also, she refers to all of us as "puerile and juvenile," which, as you all know, is nothing new around here.
