So Many Things to Discuss...

...and by "things," of course, I mean "irrelevant things," since none of us have a copy of ADWD in our hands yet.  (Or do we?  Sometimes I think that Pesci might be holding out on me.)

Speaking of Pesci, he's a bit tied up lately running an auction for his kids' grade school, so he sends his regards.  He also wants to assure everybody that he is, in ( Read more... )

Sad truth is he's fat and old and is probably near to it. Found this blog last night because I did my yearly check on GRRM's site and mistakenly thought the cover for ADWD was some sort of progress update. I felt like I got Zomboed or rick-rolled because that took me to Amazon.com's preorder page for ADWD, which I fucking preordered the book (and was charged for it) over three god damn years ago and I no longer reside where I did then ( ... )

You know, I thought Goodkind's books were suffering toward the end there, and continually told myself that the first few were much better. Then one day I realized -- when I read 'Wizard's First Rule' I was, like, ten years old! I cracked my old paperback copy a few months ago and read the first couple chapters before I put the book down in disgust. Maybe it's because I'm much older now, maybe it's because I've already seen what becomes of the series... I dunno. All I know is that, even from page 1 of the first book, I should have seen it coming.

Which takes me to my next point -- re-reading the first chapter of 'Game of Thrones', and noting the overly detailed descriptions of people who are all going to be dead in two pages... yeah. Should have seen it coming for ASOIAF as well.

How come you haven't got your money back from the preorder? I remember preordering Dance about 4 years ago when it was first posted on Amazon, and after the first delay they refunded my money and said basically who knows when it's coming out and just keep checking back.

Also, about the GOT HBO show, hasn't it pretty much started shooting, meaning HBO has already invested money into making it happen? I was under the assumption that it was already greenlit, although I wouldn't mind seeing it fail at this point. Maybe it would get George to actually work on Dance, not bloody likely though.

Well I never got my money back because, as the years go by, one tends to forget things. I didn't realize I had preordered and paid for it already until the other night. I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to get my money back if I try... But it's only costing me $35 from the past to be able to say, "Yes fanboi, George does indeed owe me a book. I paid for it four years ago."

Another irritating thing... Chubbalumpkins doesn't like fan fiction because he thinks people should get their own ideas? The guy's name is larger than the title on the books he only "edited" with no mention of the authors who actually created. And people can't figure out why Joe Rogan bashes Carlos Mencia?

You must be mistaken, Amazon does not process any charge until the order ships. And they never have. I encourage you to bring the issue directly to Amazon, I'm sure they will tell you the same thing.

I pre-ordered the book over 2 years ago, and have not and will not be charged for it until the order ships.

No, I was charged. I ordered a few other things with my preorder. Those all shipped and I was charge for the preorder as well. I'm not worried. I'm sure that with one attempt, I'd get my money back. But, since I'm really not missing that money, I'm going to see if I'm locked in at the price of a book from years ago and not some ridiculous price that they charge now days.
