Sigh....Holidays...

Dec 09, 2009 12:06

The holidays are depressing for several reasons. First and foremost, I get swamped with all sorts of grading crap, which is why I end up living in a hole for most of November. Add to that the fact that my girlfriend is basically living with me now, and I get no time for fun ramblings on FTBG. Is it just me, or do women ruin everything that's cool? Video games...snarky blogging...voting...you name it, women make it totally lame.

However, I have taken a brief respite from my piles of terrible essays to offer a few words of comment. (On a related note, have you read a high schooler's writing lately? It's about as coherent as bathroom stall graffiti.) Namely, a few words of comment on GRRM's recent posts:

December 4th & 6th
Football crap. As usual, I don't care. Has Dan Snyder fired that kicker yet? You know Flozell Adams is a thug. Is Mustang McBeeBee still running 4 and 2 switched-offense shotgun patterns against special team def-OH MY GOD YOU MAKE ME WANT TO DIE.

December 8th: Time to Make the Miniatures!
All right, seriously, let's look at these ridiculous pieces of resin. For one, why does Arya remind me of Luke Skywalker? Can anyone help me with that?

As for this, this better be Catelyn after she got hung and drowned. Yeek.

And finally...when did Oberyn go gay and start working at Caesar's Palace?

December 8th.2th: Is it really that time again?
Yes it is! It's time for George to peddle the crap that's been sitting in his basement all year! Because we all know that TUF VOYAGING was flying off the shelves. Incidentally, that brings me to my next question: what the fuck is TUF VOYAGING?

And is it just me, or does that book cover look like it was put together with safety scissors, glue sticks, and a stack of National Geographics?

Then, of course, we have this one, which seems to involve androgyny and hang gliding:

You mean there are still first editions of that one available? Stunning.

And then, of course, we have

I'm not even going to bother with that.

Of course, George is offering a bulk (hehehehehe) discount if you buy all three. How much, you ask? A whopping 20% off the list prices! It's like Crown Books never left!

I'm going to go back to working for a living. I suggest you all do the same, because looking at this crap just gets depressing.
