Thanks for the answer, Liotta! It looks like most people came down on the side of GRRM. As explained in a previous post, I voted for the fanboys myself but... I can't say the GRRM-is-worse camp is wrong - there were some really good points all around about celebrity and the abuse thereof.
Now, regarding Peter Dinklage, I'm actually pretty pleased with this choice - I'm no expert on him or on dwarfism in Hollywood period, but I did see him in A Station Agent and was impressed with his work. I think he'll make a fine Tyrion - yes he's at least 10 years older than Tyrion is, but it's de rigeur for actors to play characters 10+ years their junior and I'm not just talking Beverly Hills 90210. Yes,Tyrion is younger than the twincesters, but given his characterization, "rosy bloom of youth" ain't exactly the first phrase that comes to mind when I picture a real lifeTyrion. Whatever greivances we have with GRRM - and lo, they be legion - I'm not going to conflate it with the HBO casting, which looks decent enough thus far. Quoting a WoW guildmate of mine: at the very least we were spared this: ""Tonight on the WB! On an all new A Game of Thrones... starring James Vanderbeek as Ned Stark, Kim Kardashian as Danerys Targaryen and Matthew Lilliard as Tyrion Lannister."
