Along with my previous mentions, there are a handful of phrases that I think should be banned henceforth from all print versions, and television adaptations, of A Song of Ice and Fire. These phrases are as follows:
- "Almost a man grown"
- "Nothing held an edge like Valyrian steel."
- "Supple leather boots"
- Any combination of the words "velvet," "doublet," and "slashed"
In addition, any mention of a stew that involves carrot, onion, and barley, with "the occasional bit of meat," would also be shunned. I think I've noticed at least three separate scenes where different characters on opposite ends of Westeros are eating the same stew.
I keep wondering why Gregor Clegane hasn't obliterated all the farmers yet, anyway. Where are they getting the food to feed these hundreds of thousands of soldiers, when half the realm is starving?
