....it has occured to me as I am catching up on some of my 'friends' journals, that some of my 'friends' don't have any contact with me other than the fact that I read their journals (note, I read them but am never mentioned in the daily accounting of their lives). Boy am I feeling isolated now.............guess I should go find some family ( Read more... )

What do you think of installing some sort of messenger software (Trillian, AIM, ICQ, MSN, or thelike?)
Advantages and disadvantages to each, but many LJ users are on at least one (often AIM and/or ICQ), and you can carry on realtime-more-or-less conversations that way.

edit: you of course don't need to give out your contact information for a messenger (your screen name, user number...) in your profile, either (spam is a problem of course) (some give theirs out only to people they're quite sure of, some choose a middle route and put the information in a protected journal entry.)

Hi Eric,

Thanks. Don't worry too much--I was trying to shake Kelley's tree a little bit and remind her that she has a rl family that loves her and misses her. Sometimes she gets so melodramatic that I have a difficult time 'buying' all the woes. Especially when she ignores her rl family and becomes unable to breathe without her online family.

....and in other news tonight. Sorry, let me climb down off my soapbox and tuck my tail.....

(Hrm. 2nd time I've let LJ and Mozilla eat a comment of mine. Must be more careful. Pares comment down and copies it...)
Hrm- I hope you take no offense when I say that that implication of your comments passed me right by. For I mean none.
The comment about messenger software may or may not still stand (or does, but in regards such people as -nichts- wissen, wo ihr sie wieder finden kann (and given that that was a combination paste from an operatic libretto and cry from help to Babelfish, I don't doubt it's completely wrong, yes. My tendency for mischief does not improve when LJ is having its weekly problems...))
Seguing from that horrible attempt to say that it probably only applied to people who didn't already know how to reach you - (say that in the first place next time.) (hush, Cleo.)- my condolences about the termination of your employment, and best wishes on future endeavors.
