I have, sadly, neglected LJ these past few months where (ironically) I've had more things happen to me than ever before. Like, for example, I went to Egypt and was absolutely flabberghasted by it and my Lara Croft fantasies finally came true when I climbed up and into THE Great Pyramid. I was in pain from the climb, sweaty as hell from the humidity inside and shaking. Physically shaking. Unfortunately, there was no artefact at the end to raid (only an empty sarcophagus), I didn't have guns and I didn't need to kill some statue that's just come to life. But it was still the best thing...ever.
Next to my travels in Egypt, things haven been relatively calm - working at the Walkabout (again) before going to Prague (December 11th) and travelling Europe via train, waiting for the winds to carry us wherever and whenever (Berlin for Christmas, though, and Budpest for New Year's). I've been to Edinburgh and back again and, as a result, my new passport has come through and it has "London" written in it (as the distribution place or whatever) making my passport look a lot cooler and anyone in my family's. Hostels are being looked at and booked and places are being noted down all across Europe. These are the cities we will/might/might not/but probably will go;
Prague
Berlin
Dresden
Ljubljana (pronounciation, someone?)
Bratislava
Krakow
Vienna
Munich
As you can see, we are avoiding Italy, Spain, Portugal and France (quite sadly, I have been a fan of Joan of Arc for a good while now) which are expensive and, more than likely, full of English people (esp. Spain).
If anyone has been to these places and has any tips, then comment or e-mail. Unlike Claire, I have no patience for trawling the worldwidewebiverse for suggestions. And, besides, who better to trust than your good time friends? Thanking you in advance...
There you have it. A month around Europe and seeing places I didn't even consider seeing a year ago (I have been away from Australia for a solid year now - and now I am saying words like "fit", "ta", "thanking you", "are you 'eck" and discriminating people by calling them "dick ed", "cock" and "fourkin twat" (not to their faces, obviously, there are a lot of 'hard' people here in Donny) You know what accent I'd actually like? A Scottish one).
So. A lot of things to look forward to but at the moment just concentrating on pouring pints, asking for ID and giving Claire lots of late-night /early-morning kisses and hugs.
