I heartily agree with the sentiment.

And Rugby played in snow is fun, but messy.

I agree. It is funny that you name that sport football for two reaons.

1. You dont use your foot that often.

2. There already was a sport called football. You guys actually call it soccer and you use your feet quite often in this sport.

P.S. I spent a year in Scotland and I came to believe that Football is the sissy version of rugby. Sorry

Actually, European football is not called football because you use your feet...it's called that because it is played on foot. When football developed in England, it was a the common people's version of games played by the wealthy, like polo, which were all played on horseback. So any team sport with goals and a ball played by the common folk was referred to as "football" because they didn't play on horses. There have been many versions of the game since it originated, and neither the current European or American versions are the same as they were in the 19th century. European football and American football developed during the same time period, and were originally quite similar, having branched off from the same common origin. So, really, there wasn't "already a sport called football." I'm no soccer basher, but it does kinda bother me when soccer supporters whine about how American football isn't the "real" football, as if soccer somehow has the "true" right to be called by that name. Most of these people have no clue as to the ( ... )

My dad played rugby in college and was invited to play for the Eagles in some international tournaments in the 80's and while rugby is a fast paced, physical, and requires a hefty dose of strategy, it pales in comparison to American football. American football is the fastest sport on the planet - yes, yes I know the plays are only 3-5 seconds long but those seconds are a car wreck. Pads aren't to protect the jock's egos they are there to -literally- save bones. It takes NFL players 6 months of training simply to be in shape to take that punishment. So to say that football is sissy is not only ignorant, it's pretty damn dumb too.

And soccer - you can have that one, free of charge.

Soccer is one of those sports that could be judged. Teams could be awarded extra points for artistic merit of how badly a player pretends to be injured to draw a penalty.
