I commented on Cora's post and wanted to share with others (JARED) who I think would benefit from my hard learned lessons. Because I care about them (01NX) and want them to be happy in RL. ;)
I quit WOW 9 months ago.
I stopped all video games 6 months ago (I had to take baby steps after WOW, ya know).
I do have times where I wonder, wtf do normal people do with extra time, especially in the beginning? Do they not have special armor and weapons that sparkely glow with power to show for countless hours spent? Or that special spell to cast boredom into a pit of zombies to be torn apart to your glee?
Cable is just a non-interactive video game half the time so I didn't see TV as an answer either.
The answer to "what do I do now" that you asked comes slowly. You have to be in a good position to ask it and having the excuse to play WOW was not a good position for me at least. LOL
Well, I'm getting better at it. I meet up with friends for drinks. I go to dinner parties or see my family. I get actual things done around the house (My dog watches me with his head tilted like I'm crazy as I do things he's hardly if ever seen me do like clean, fix and create. Hell. He probably thought he was even fed through the computer).
Art and graphic art are going well.
Believe me. WOW is fun, but you regret it especially after you quit and look back at all the time wasted and things/relationships lost.
Then you look at what you've accomplished since you quit.
You come to the conclusion that no matter when you quit, it wasn't soon enough.
Let's all thank Grim for sharing today at WOWA (World of Warcraft Anonymous). :P
