Hi. You know me as Aeron on TPP, but I'm arynwy everywhere else! *waves merrily* *friends you*

Let's see... do I care or think that you need to justify leaving those lines out? Absolutely not! Honestly, I truly understand your frustration with JKR. You are entitled to write it as you see it. This is YOUR work.

Firstly, they (the lines) imply that Snape is just a pawn of DD's with no true intelligence of his own. That in and of itself is contradictory to everything we've seen in canon.

Secondly, I feel that this just shows that DD is STILL trying to run things as if he were alive and in charge, which makes him a very sad, somewhat pitiful character to me. It's little things like this, along with the US version of DD's speech to Draco at the Astronomy Tower, that tarnished my perception of him irreparably.

I am of the belief that Snape knew exactly what was going on and was waiting for DD to come clean. Which is why his comeback was - 'don't worry, I have a plan' - which he then proceeded not to share as he left. Tit for tat.

Lastly, I get the impression that DD didn't want to confirm anything with Snape because ultimately, he didn't think Snape would be able to keep the information from Tom if he were caught out. Which to me, is the biggest show of disloyalty I've ever seen. In the end, DD is only loyal to himself.

As always, I wish you happy writing.

Hello! *waves back* *friends back*

DD is hoping to manipulate things right up to the grisly end (more on that as the fic unfolds). Your analysis is spot on, and it's the "still" a pawn even though he's done the unthinkable that bothers me so much, I think. *sigh* Poor Snape!
