I have, my friends, come to a decision
How many months has it been?? I have been completely and utterly AWOL, and for that I want to apologise! I also want to apologise for the comments that have languished unanswered--I tried several times to respond to various people only to have my answers swallowed by Livejournal.
I hasten to add that work on Phoenix Flame progresses--as slowly as ever, and indeed, I have come to a new decision. In an ideal world, I would have time to sit and write fanfic, preferably on the beach somewhere. I'd write maybe four or five hours a day and spend the rest of the time hanging out with my daughter. I'd still get paid by my job of course, maybe even get a pay rise. Then, I could finish my draft, reread it, polish it, and start posting it for you all to read in short order. This alas, is destined not to be. So, this is the solution I'm currently considering: I will edit (and have beta'd) the chapters I have, and post one every week or so starting in mid-November. At this point, I think I'll probably only post on FF. Hopefully the regular engagement with the story and the encouragement of regular reviews (no-one can have forgotten how much of a review addict I am) will keep the story closer to the forefront and hopefully speed the work along--it's actually half-way written already, so if I post once a week or once a fortnight there should be enough material for quite a while. Once it's done, then I can do some polishing before posting to the moderated sites.
So, then, that's the plan. Deep breath. I'm going to post a WIP. Kind of terrifying, but in the end, I think it's what I need.
