Asking for help
Do you have access to a private plane? Do you know anyone who does?
My sister is sick -- really sick. She has a rare and fast-moving type of leukemia, and needs a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible. The good news is that the specialist who (literally) wrote the book on bone marrow transplants has agreed to take her case. The challenging part is we need to find a way to get my sister from Virginia to City of Hope, in Southern California. This may need to happen pretty soon, possibly within the week.
She may be able to take a commercial flight. This is a big risk for her, since she is at a significant risk for infection.
I'm turning to LiveJournal to see if anyone has a private plan, or has access to one, or good suggestions or ideas about getting her to City of Hope.
Getting her there and getting the bone marrow transplant is likely her best chance. She and her husband just celebrated their 9th anniversary. Her baby turned 1 at the end of January. And I'm really scared and worried.
