You've inspired me (sorry 'bout that) to do a post tribute to McQueen. So stand by for a post and picspam of McQueen.
There have been at least two references to McQueen on SPN. One was in FPB when Dean is put in solitary. He makes a comment about all he needs is a baseball. That's a reference to McQueen's character in "The Great Escape" who is continuously put in solitary due to failed escapes from a WWII Nazi prison camp. He uses a baseball to pass the time away by throwing the ball against a wall and catching it. The scene where Dean is sitting against the wall in solitary could be closely compared (and I will post a comparison picspam) with that scene from The Great Escape (which BTW is a terrific movie.)
The other reference is in Unusual Suspects when Dean passes a note to Sam. The note is to "Hilts" from "McQueen". Hilts is the character McQueen plays in the Great Escape.
James Gardner is also in The Great Escape. SPN kinda references Gardner at least once in Unusual Suspects when Sam registers as "Rockford" at the hotel after he escapes (hee! another Great Escape reference) from his holding cell. Jim Rockford was the name of a TV character Gradner played for many years. (Another show I watched religiously.)

And I think I just misspelt the word misspelt. Oh well, spelling ain't my strong point.
