JIB6 :: Getting a voice in guest selection
Another difference with JIB is giving the fan attendees an opportunity to vote on which guests they would like to attend. While many of us have emailed and/or chatted with Gary/Adam/Creation about guest suggestions, from what I've heard the JIB vote can very much drive the guest selection.
The Js and Misha are not included in the poll as they are already signed up for JIB6.
Each fan who was able to get a JIB6 ticket is asked to vote for:
I learned today that there has only been one female guest, Traci Dinwiddle back at JIB1. I guess just like at Creation the fans tend to lean more towards the male guests. I can't claim I don't since the only photo ops I've gotten with female guests are for Kim and Felicia.
I found deciding VERY hard. The polls asks that all questions are required, except for the write-in choice. I voted mostly along the lines of people I haven't yet seen, but really want to. When I learned of the dearth of female guests though, I changed one of my votes to Felicia, since while I have seen her a few times, Felicia really must go to Rome. Plus seeing her on stage multiple times interacting with the other guests (which is a standard JIB format) would likely be very cool. I struggled between choosing Kim vs. Felicia. Ugh. I love Kim. But I just had to go with Felicia. I gave up my Gil choice to have a female guest vote, but I only did that because Gil will be at Vancon and I will see him there. My other guest vote was for Tim Omundson, who hasn't yet signed up for any Creation con I'm signed up for.
And I had to go with Rob for the musical guest because I just love Rob so much.
My write-in guest changed several times. I was almost ready to submit James Marsters. But then I remembered my desire to see behind the scenes guests at cons. So I then struggled to think of who. I almost went with Kevin, but decided since he was signed up for Vancon, I wouldn't go that route (although he would be cool.) I'd love Serge, but thought it highly unlikely he would agree. I finally went with Jeremy Carver. I knew he might have some polarizing reactions. But you know? I think SPN fans should have the chance to ask him questions directly, and for that reason I went with him. I figure he's probably unlikely both due to lack of votes and because I think he may be hard to convince. But if anything could convince someone to appear at a con, ROME may be it.
For my "no" votes, that was as I said harder. I finally went with Sebastian because (a) I see him at just about every con I go to and (b) I just don't get much out of his style of panel. His manic energy just hits me too hard. And my other choice was kinda influenced by the one other time I saw this guest at a con. While I realize Brock is likely sweet and his stage presence has likely improved (he was so young back then) (and look at how Chad evolved from his first appearance), but I've just never been that interested. I think I'd much prefer to see Colin actually.
