Random SPN thought... (5x04 spoilers in comments)

Oct 03, 2009 20:04

I was just reading through the flist and noticed someone did a great icon of the phrase "Okie Dokie."  Which of course, put Nightshifter in mind.  And my first thought was....  Wow, remember how we thought the boys were so screwed at the end of Nightshifter?  And doesn't that level of "screwed" now seem like skinned knees on the playground ( Read more... )

IKR? I mean it was like we couldn't figure out how they'd get out from under the feds, the hunters and the demons. It seemed impossible.

Ha!

Random thought :: I miss Hendriksen.

Actually, I remember being crushed at the end of Nightshifter, it was so REAL. I pretty much find what they're going through now almost...cartoonish. It doesn't even compare to the NS level of angst, in my opinion.

Yeah I was rather overwhelmed as well at the end of NS. It seemed like an impossible scenario for them to get out of. Even more so because it involved real life aspects--feds, hunters.

And you've got a good point. Since it's more "reality" based it does have a whole different level of punch.

I'm going to have to ponder this. I do know that the angst/depression I felt after On the Head of Pin and When the Levee Breaks was definitely harder or me than Nightshifter. But perhaps that was a cumulative "how much MORE can these boys take" effect just as much as what happened during the episodes themselves.

Rather than "cartoonish," I think I'd compare it more to what you'd find in a modern "graphic novel." Yeah, I know. A rose by any other name. But what can I say? I've always been a sucker for good vs. evil and/or epic "non-reality" mythology. (Or may rather than non-reality...perhaps "non-physical?"--Okay, I need coffee--I've no idea what I'm even saying even more!)

*sheepish grin*

*goes to pour coffee*

It's the perfect day to curl up with some old eps of spn. I'm wanting to watch Nightshifter and Croatoan too.

I'm so unmotivated to do anything today. But I've got to go over some homework of Luke's and check it. Blah! It will probably take five minutes, but I'm dreading it. *stupid self*

I have to fill out a mountain of forms today. And go to Kinkos for printing. UGH! We're meeting on Monday with someone about a mortgage refinance. Double, double, (triple?) ugh. Forms. DNW to the nth degree.

I really enjoyed watching NS & Croatoan last night.
