“I was at the vet’s with a couple of guinea pigs that had upper respitory infections. I was at the desk talking to the vet techs, one who works with me at Pet Smart, named Linnie. So the vet tech whose name I didn’t know was talking about this woman who’d had her cat cremated and was sending it down to Angel Memorial (Pet Cemetery). Linnie piped up that she has a cabinet in her house where all her pets’ ashes are and she’s going to get buried with them when she dies. The other vet tech said, ‘If you do that, there won’t be any room left for you in the casket.’ Linnie said, ‘I’m going to have a shelf put in.’ So I said, ‘Why don’t you just have the mortician open up your chest cavity and pour the ashes in?’ Both just stopped what they were doing and looked at me. So, in an effort to save my ass, I said, ‘That way they will always be close to your heart.’”- Renee
