Hi-karu! Kao-ru! Har-uhi! Min-ato, Ryoji, Fuuma! We have a guest stopping by to choose a lucky escort for herself this evening, everyone who can come by the Host Club and look your best!
[Haruhi had to curse the stupid bus system. It never moved her around town quite fast enough. She continually checked her watch, trying to keep tabs on whether she was late or not. But even despite the buses and her running, she still managed to look at least good enough when she entered the ballroom and looked around for any sign of life, desperately hoping she hadn't just missed everyone.]
[Tamaki was flitting around the ballroom, absent-minded to the world at large but very attentive to the little details of cleaning and decoration that he was seeing to- less with the trained eyes of a Host and more as a butler, fussing over dusting corners and straightening vases and tablecloths, looking dashing but incongruous in a regal ivory-colored tailcoat and tophat.]
The moment she laid eyes on Tamaki, she had to admit that she felt a little hesitant. He had managed to cheer her up but... she still felt as though she had a right to be angry with him. But that didn't matter now. That was home, this was work. All of that could be dealt with later. She took a deep breath and put on a smile as she made her way across the ballroom to him.]
I didn't know we were dressing in theme, Tamaki. Should I go change?
[Tamaki seemed entirely oblivious to the continuing tension, and beamed at the sight of her, setting down the feather duster for a moment.]
That's up to Haruhi! Since Simca-hime has never seen our advertising, I thought we should each dress so that our type would be obvious at a glance! Anything Haruhi feels reflects your style as a Host is all right!
Oh, I see. I guess that shouldn't be a problem then.
[Haruhi eyed the feather duster for a moment, curious about what she'd just seen him doing. Was Tamaki... working? Like.. with his hands? Without any kind of provocation? That was... startling to say the least.]
Were you.. dusting just now? I can take care of that if you want.
That's all right! I have to get better with the duster if Sebastian-san is going to trust me with it again!
[Tamaki sailed blithely across the room, dusting several areas unnecessarily along the way but thankfully failing to knock over any flower vases or lamps - a quick look in the corner trash basket would have revealed that one each had already been broken and relegated there.]
[She.. didn't want to ask. But Haruhi couldn't keep the smile from her face as she watched him flit to and fro like some kind of fabulous hummingbird. She smiled to herself and went to check her hair in a mirror.]
