I sometimes look at a group of friends and yearn for their opulent status in life and for the things they possess. Things like a fancy car, a bigger house, extravagant vacations or special electronic gadgets.
Then I look at other friends who might not have the same material wealth, but have other riches due to their different status in life. Friends like a single mother who sacrifices to raise her child alone or a college student who works three jobs in order to pay the tuition. Parents that forgo personal wants in order to provide for their children, a physically challenged friend who accomplishes so much against such terrific odds or a child from a divorced or abusive environment who freely gives unconditional love to others.
Yes, I look at my friends who have those big cars and fancy houses and I respect them for what they have been able to accomplish, but I gain my inspiration from that single mother, the working college student and my other friends like them. They are my heroes - my inspiration!
