My street is suddenly zoned!
Zoning signs have appeared on my street- it is now Zone Y. I've known this was in the works, but I expected the permission sticker to arrive before the signs. Apparently that's not how it works.
I'm quite willing to pay $11/year for a sticker and a guest pass, but the signs imply that it only means anything between 8AM and 9PM. My worst problems have actually been in late evening, when the bars are full. Still, being able to park during the day could be a good thing- we had essentially mandatory street sweeping tickets because there were no free spots on the legal side of the street and no other blocks in Shadyside where we could park. Apparently people were driving in, parking, and then taking the busway downtown for work.
I expect this will be a positive change. Some years ago we opted against being zoned, as a gesture of support for the businesses on Ellsworth, but the parking situation has become too hairy to realistically continue on that path.
