I hope that tonight--regardless of your faith--as our country and many parts of the world shut down for 24 hours, that you are able to gather with people you love and have a wonderful time.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Festivus (for the rest of us).
I have been baking and cooking non-stop since Sunday. Pumpkin and Strawberry Breads, Divinity, Swedish Heirloom Cookies, Caramel Popcorn, Rice Krispie Treats, the famous "armstrong secret recipe family baked ham", Corn Pudding, Hopping John...and tomorrow I will add Honey/Ginger glazed carrots, buttery whipped potatoes and who knows what else will inspire me to destroy my kitchen.
I learned many things this week. 1. Cooking candy to hard ball stage is a delicate process. 2. You can actually burn wax paper in the oven. 3. I am, quite honestly, a badass comfort food cook, but baking is not easy for me. :)
It's hard to believe that a new year is just around the corner. While most of us are hoping for a MUCH better year, I'm sure we will have our share of trials and tribulations again. But that just means that when we reach this same day NEXT year, we will be that much stronger, that much smarter, and that much more thankful that 2010 is just around the corner. LOL!
Much love,
Aimes
