I had to jot this down while it's still fresh on my mind so I will remember it!
I'm still reeling. We had our first PTA meeting today after I dropped her off at her classroom. I barely slept the night before, checking and rechecking that I had her lunch packed and her snack packed and her backpack ready and everything labelled...
We bought everything they sold at the PTA meeting. Shirts, stuffed Ocelots (her mascot), car stickers...
She did SO great! She was very excited and only a slight bit apprehensive about us leaving. I got her talking to her table-mates and then kissed her and told her how proud I was of her and she gave me a hug and went right back to writing her name and talking to her new friends.
In comparison as we left we saw quite a few screaming and crying kids that wanted to go home. Not Lily. She was ready for a new day. If anything, that was what made my eyes start to tear up. She embraced it!
She's not my baby girl anymore. It's not just up to her and I what we feel like doing. A big part of our lives is now dictated by the PISD. That's so strange to me. I already want to rebel and tell them she will show up when we damn well feel like it.
I guess your desire to be like Ferris Bueller never really dies. :)
OMG y'all...it's real school. Like, really real. My baby is gone and this young lady has taken her place. WOW. In fact, if you click on any of ther pix below, it takes you to the album I've used for the past three years for the first day of school. My oh My.
