New CDs!!! I've gotten lots this summer, here are my favorites:
Imogen Heap - Speak For Yourself
Sooo good. She has a really different sound. This CD is really versatile. Some songs are light and happy and others are haunting. Her voice is really pure, but she uses a lot of synthesizers and stuff to alter it. Not necessarily for everyone, but if you like Frou Frou (they were on the Garden State Soundtrack) you'll like her, because she's half of that duo.
Favorite Songs: "Goodnight and Go" and "Hide and Seek"
Guster - Ganging Up On the Sun
Not my favorite Guster CD, but its decent. There are a few really good songs, and a few kind of blah ones. Typical Guster, good lyrics, and a mellow sound. There are a few that are kind of Ben Folds-esque, that use lots of piano.
Favorite Songs: "Manifest Destiny" and "One Man Wrecking Machine"
The Veronicas - The Secret Life Of...
Very fun CD. This band is made up of twin sisters from Australia. They have a really versatile sound. Lots of different kinds of music, everything from angry chick to love songs.
Favorite Songs: "When It All Falls Apart" and "Mother Mother"
KT Tunstall - Eyes to the Telescope
Easily my favorite CD that I bought this summer. I'm so sick of her song "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" but the rest of her CD is nothing like that. It's definitely got a folk feel to it, but the songs are all different, and her lyrics are great. I definitely recommend it.
Favorite Songs: "Under the Weather" and "Suddenly I See"
Corinne Bailey Rae - Corinne Bailey Rae
Very easy going, light CD, perfect for the summer. She has a really cool voice. It's very old fashioned...jazzy, but really pure at the same time. Her songs are sweet and her lyrics are very poetic.
Favorite Songs: "Put Your Records On" and "Breathless"
Ok, enough CD reviews....peace out kiddos!
