Hi World. It is Jackie just writing in to say hello.
So I quit my first job recently. This was an extremely odd situation, as I don't believe I have quit anything since the time I gave up cigarettes when I was eight years old. That was the same year I gave up dance class, which should have given my parents a clue that I would become a raging feminist one day. So back to the job ... I found this work study job over the summer with one of the psych office at Rutgers. I was there for one day, and I could already tell that one of the bosses was going to treat me like a doormat. So I did the passive aggressive thing and emailed them to say that I wouldn't be returning (and promptly didn't answer or return their phone calls). So I asked my summer job to hire me for the year, which they did (of course ... sarcasm!). But apparently my old job told the work study office that I was shitty for leaving and such ... and then work study told a lady at my new job ... but luckily she was kind enough to defend me and then listen to me whine about how horrible the first job was. I mean it was kinda a shitty job, but I just mostly didn't want to seem like a shitty employee who leaves with little notice. But what is the protocol for leaving a job that you have only been to for one day?!?!
In other news, the Dalai Lama (who apparently used to have a home in Ithaca, or so Maria claims) is speaking at Rutgers this weekend. So my dad and I are going. It should be spectacular. Despite my claims that Rutgers is below average in the challenging department, at least it provides some stellar extra curricular activities ... I mean all Elmira gave me was Live and Everclear.
