A Music Heavy Survey and something pretty tame...

Robbie's questions.

1.)Desert Island Top 5.

Hmmm....rough, I'm very eclectic, so it's going to be sort of random. I'd definately take a selection that's familar and comforting, so here goes:
1. Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine
2. Stabbing Westward - Darkest Days
3. Paul Oakenfold - Live in Havana
4. She Wants Revenge - self-titled
5. ELO - Greatest Hits

2.Whats your opinion on the state of music lately? Do you think it's just going downhill and eventually CD walls will be bare due to the fact that there were so many attempted musicians, and they decided to cut the music industry period? OR do you think we're just in a funk.

Honestly, I think people in general are becoming somewhat lazy. Couple that with the internet age and you have millions of people who get bored with their music selections every 10 seconds. Bands stay together for a couple months and then break up, but it's all good because the next flavor of the month is already on their way. Having said that though, I do believe that music will always be made. For most it's an outlet, for anger, hurt, joy, heartache...people will always need those outlets.

3.Opinion on music piracy.

I'm torn on the issue of music piracy. I believe artists rights should be supported. However, I also believe that the cost increase for cds and the like has gotten out of control. I hate hate hate buying a whole CD only to find that I like a single song on it. I prefer to download tracks and check them out. If I like the whole album, then I'm still going to go out and buy it...that's just how I am.

4.Whats your opinion on "classic music"? We all know in a few years that bands like Mudhoney and such (early 90's alternative rock, whatever) could be considered classic rock by the 20 years rule, so what do you think will happen to classic rock as a genre? Will all music eventually be classified more specifically by lets say "90's Rock" or "80's Latin Music"?

They already play Nirvana on some classic rock stations. And some classic rock artists are now played on oldies stations. Music classification is a dynamic thing. Genres have always been divided into sub catatgories...I mean, even in the 80's, there was pop, new wave, punk etc.

5.Whats going with you after college?

I graduate in about a year. After college I'm planning on leaving Fort Myers unless there's a reason to stay here. Mom and I have already talked about selling the condo and spliting the household at that point. I'm not completely sure where I'm going, but I do want to continue working in the photography/sports photography field. I'm not crazy about the idea of sticking with studio portraiture, but it pays decent money, so who knows. In the long run, I'd like to settle down with someone, open my own studio, shoot sports and live the american dream. Crazy, I know.

AND an interview by Mary

1. what was your first job, and did you like it?

I had a pretty awesome first job, actually. When I was 15, I worked as a circulation clerk for a roofing magazine. The work itself wasn't all that great...just boring data entry, but when I got promoted to circulation manager, they put my name in the masthead of every issue of the magazine. And I made more $$$ than all my friends were making.

2. what's your mom like?

My mom's pretty cool. She raised me herself, so we're really close. She's one of my best friends. She's got a raunchy sarcastic streak in her, so I hear all my favorite jokes from her!

3. what's your dream car?

I love good old fashioned american heavy metal. Someday I'm going to own a 1967 fastback 4-speed mustang with a cleveland 451. ::sigh::

4. have you ever wished you were a boy?

Abstractly. When it comes to matters of the heart, guys seem to get over things much faster than girls. When it comes to sex, I definately wish I could do it without emotions getting involved. But most of the time, I'm quite happy being a girl. We're the stronger sex and we just kinda rule. Period.

5. where do you want to be in 5 years?

In 5 years? Away from Ft. Myers, hopefully! I graduate college in the next year, and after that I'm planning on moving away. I hope to be running my own photo studio sometime in the next 5 years as well...but that might be a little too ambitious.
