This is one of my favorite album covers of all time. It presents us with a venue that looks like the kind of place where real music happens, where legends are born. Far away from civilization as we know it. Is that civilization burning in the hills? And when you juxtapose it with the back cover of an empty lot, it's almost as if the place is magical, as if it pops up here and there like a musicla phantom, dropping a night of killer and otherworldly music and then disappearing in the morning before the sun comes up. The white light gone blue, the scary ticket man, the puffy leather door...this is a place to commit a gross act of art with extreme prejudice. That it's a Frank Zappa record only means it's as good inside as it is outside.
I look at it and go away from here.
