It's been a long time..
I just figured I'd put something here to say I'm alive :P
I'm just about done with my first quarter of college, next week is finals and I'm going into them w/ A's in both my classes so I'm pretty psyched about that. My company brought down our summit billing system on Friday in preparation for the transition to the new billing systems yesterday. It's been a really shitty weekend as a result, Friday was totally dead but the rest of the days have been swamped. I got conned into working 5 hours of OT (probably the first I've ever signed up for while at the company) to ensure we had enough folks onhand during the transition.
Using the new billing systems really does feel like I'm stepping into a time warp and heading back 10-15 years in time (for the GUI at least.. the loss in efficiency may only be about half that). It's kinda surprising that Alltel have been around for so long and been as successful as they have when I look at the environment that I'm going to be working in. I'm hoping that with time and experience I can come to find the good in the systems.
My great news of the day was that I got my tax return back! Mmmmm money! I got about $1300 back this year so I'm hoping to put that towards buying a new bed so I can finally retire the one that I've got.
