Thought I’d better update my story so I uploaded Mongoose Chapter 33.

Phewwwwww. I also chucked in a Hermione POV, it’s about time, she’s due for it.

Aaaaaand now back to the gift fest story!! Whooooooop.

What is one supposed to do / say at the check in? Telling the mods everything is ok and your gift is nicely marinating itself or in other stages of preparation / completion?

I just re-read the rules.

It’s like a proof of life! If the mods don’t hear from you they will reassign your prompt to a pinch hitter.

“The check-in date is mandatory. If we do not hear from you within a week we will try once to contact you. If we do not get a reply, you will be dropped and we’ll get a pinch-hitter for your recipient. We hate to be nasty, but we also want to ensure that everyone receives their gift (and that we aren’t tearing our hair out two days before posting begins!)”

I think it's pretty informal. By October 1, most people also have a sense if they'll need an extension of a week or two, so that's the time to ask the mods if that's okay.
