How to Help Haiti

At first we were unsure how to address the destruction of Haiti earthquake. The answer was always right there in front of our face. We address this tragedy with information on how to help.

We wish to say, Mr Ambassador, Pat Robertson does not speak for us or millions of sane Americans. Would if we could stop Pat Robertson from preying on the world's turmoil like some ambulance chasing lawyer or agent of TMZ. All we can say is that he simply needs to shut the fuck up.

Reddit's Direct Relief Effort
After learning most charities take half or more of the money raised at benefits and whatnot, we've been hesitant to promote the practice. It's nice to see organizations like the Direct Relief Effort trying to change that business.

We've all been shocked and saddened by the earthquake that's hit Haiti and based on the trending reddit links since the quake hit, it's clear many of you are anxious to help. I got to talking with a redditor at DirectRelief, a non-profit specializing in just this kind of disaster recovery and sending 100% of donations to help Haiti - redditors needn't worry about any money siphoned off for administrative or fundraising costs.
And as we saw on the reddit frontpage today, sending anything but money is detrimental to the relief effort right now.
We've set an ambitious goal of US$31,415 because we know you're up to the challenge, reddit. There's $1,000 in the pot to get things started, but team reddit will personally match redditors for another $1,000.

Heroes 4 Haiti is a grassroots movement of artists seeking to raise money for organizations helping victims of the recent Haitian earthquake. Heroes 4 Haiti is not an organization, it's a collective response to human tragedy. We're asking everyone to donate a little bit of their talent, money or time towards helping those in need.
