I feel like I can finally breathe now that SXSW is over. The internship hunt is now in full swing-- I've got my sights on the West Coast but I'd be perfectly happy staying in Austin, playing with Kalyani everyday for ten dollars an hour and working at Texas Monthly. In fact, that sounds pretty sweet. How many years... can you be a babysitter? And just breathe and relax? Graduation is actually rolling up pretty soon. Two, three semesters at the most and I will have a journalism undergrad degree under my belt. I am so happy that I found a profession that I can feel great about.
If I lived in L.A. this summer, I would surely have fun but it would require winning the Wofford Denius grant to pay for everything as well as somehow getting a car. Plus, I already got that Roy Howard award, so I will be visiting Japan and S. Korea for a two-week, all expenses paid media tour right in the middle of the summer. I am so psyched! I have to save up my energy because I will be touring newspapers during the day and ripping up the club scene at night. Gotta save up money, too.
It's been really fun lately to start learning about video and editing. It's another form of reporting and actually much easier than still photography. Ranjana is a most excellent advisor as I begin navigating this field.
I am actually going to work on editing some things now. Peace!
