My daughter is my hero!
My mother turned 90 this year. All in all she is doing well. Recently she was diagnosed with mild dementia. I have know that for a while. If you don't know her you wouldn't have a clue. She gets confused if she is tired or upset. The hardest part was realizing she wasn't handling her money well. This is woman who had always taken care of the finances of our family. My daughter stepped up and took over paying her bills. That transition has been difficult. My Mother has had a difficult time letting go. It is hard to admit you really aren't capable of a task you have always taken care of. Last week all came to a head over an unpaid credit card bill. Today it was resolved. My Mother had to admit that Jenn knew what she was doing. I mean, really admit, in her heart. My daughter had to come to the realization that we are dealing with an illness that is slowly stealing this amazing woman away from us. Mom really doen't remember. Whew!

On count down. Four more days of work. I will be training a girl to take over my job. Last day on Friday! Long weekend to finish up all those last minute details. Surgery on Tues the 16th. A good long time out to heal. Then we'll see what comes next.
