a sight for sore eyes,
making me transparent as this mask you choose;
shield your true intentions,
but your empty glares fail you,
betraying all you've tried to hide.
keep it locked up safe in your drawer
next to the chest of hearts youve stolen.
look into this mirror,
where an all too familiar image awaits.
a picture of perfection
youve worked so hard for.
but do you think of her
as you pull of that wrinkled shirt?
remember her scent as you overlook
the smudges on your skin,
your untaimed hair.
can you see me standing here,
my reflection now fading.
ive been here all along,
searching for you hand.
holding on before
disappearing all together.
