Holy crap! Has it really been a year since I last wrote here? I have to admit that I used to be a bigger journaler, but for some reason, I have more or less given it up. I didn't even do my 2014 year in review. That used to be a huge tradition of mine. So much has happened in life that I don't really know where to begin. Let's see here...

At the end of March, Staffing Now, one of the agencies that I was working with, got me a job at a nonprofit organization in Falls Church called VPPPA. I was responsible for registering members for conferences. Eventually, I was put on the phones talking to members directly. The job lasted for about a month. Why so short? My contact at Staffing Now said that the organization thought that I was not enthusiastic enough about the job. Seriously? What does that even mean? Can someone please explain to me?

During the course of that job, I had several job interviews. Eventually I was contacted by an agency out in Washington, as in Washington State, called Aditi Staffing. The job they called me about was an administrative assistant position at XO Communications in Herndon. In mid April, I interviewed with them. I gave it some thought and decided to sign on with them. The job is primarily a file clerk position. There is way too much stuff in the office, so they needed someone to help them send things off to a storage facility known as Iron Mountain.

Well, jump ahead to now. I am still employed at XO. I have been there for almost eleven months now. I find it hard to believe that it has been that long. This is the longest job that I have ever had. I love the environment at XO, and especially the people that I have had the privilege of working with. Granted, I am only a contractor, but I keep hoping that something may open up. Well, guess what? A position has in fact appeared.

The position is for a real estate paralegal. In August, we had brought on a real estate paralegal, Amy. Overall, I thought that she was doing a really good job. However, last month, I found out that she had been fired. This came as a complete surprise. Next thing I know, I was immersed into that world, primarily as the mail girl. Most of what I do is sending out agreements for signature, nothing even close to paralegal related.

Last week, my manager, Tammy, and her boss, Chuck, talked to me about my current contract. They brought up the real estate job. I am being given the opportunity to apply for it, if I decide to go down that path. Naturally, my parents think that I should go for it, making the case that I genuinely like XO and that I would ultimately like to have a paralegal job. While I do not have real estate experience, I am willing to take a continuing education class to learn at least the basics at this point. What have I really got to lose?

I guess there is only so much I can say about work. Have I had a perfect time at XO? I don't think I would go that far. I have had some really bad days, all seeming to be related around the same project. We all have them, but mine almost resulted in me quitting. It actually came real close one day, but obviously, I'm still around.

I guess that moves me on to my personal life. Well, last Saturday ended up being a ton of fun with Sean.
