Lady of Shalott

I have realized that I don't have a best friend. Everyone seems to have one except for me. Music is my best friend the arts are my best friend I seem to spend a lot of time with them. But I mean who wants to spend time with a kid who is dancing all the time? I couldn't make friends because I was so dedicated to my art for nine years of my life. I was never able to hang out with my friends or do anything with them because yea i was in Los Angeles or Vegas dancing. Doesn't that sound selfish of me? for me to have been able to go to all of those places and yet still long for one more thing? That's why I feel like the Lady of Shalott. Have you ever read that story in english class? She is in this tower and she never leaves she continues to weave and weave and weave the only outside world she see's is reflected through a mirror. She is able to capture life without living in it. One day Lancelott rides by and she is deperate to look out the window so she does and instantly falls in love with him. at once the mirror crashes and breaks and the woven cloth is shredded and she floats down the river and dies. It's the whole concept that an artist can be in this world but not be a part of it or be of it because there is this dedication to art and giving pleasure to the people that view it and consume it. It's the combination of sacrifice and dedication to produce the most beautiful art that an artist can create. I have been so dedicated for so long and i sacrificed everything I had for my art and i felt as if no one understood. Perhaps it was because i didn't have a friend that related to me that I could talk to about it. I wonder if the Lady of Shalott was christian... I wish I had a best friend and now that I'm not as dedicated to my art I feel only the desire to return to my art it's my only safe place.
