For weekly drabble challenge #16 at doctor_donna. Prompt was 'soft'.
Donna Noble had been on the Tardis for a few days now, and had started to think she might have it mostly sorted out. That is, until she found the horse. She had turned down a corner, and there it was. A big, white, horse, staring her down. She stared back at it.
"Doctor!" she called, as the horse soft nose started to dig in her pockets for treats. "Sorry, I don't have anything for you."
"What? What is it?" the Doctor said, running into view.
"You've got a horse wandering about."
"Yeah, so?"
"You've got a horse, just wandering about? How do you feed it?"
"Oh, Arthur gets on fine by himself!"
"You named the horse Arthur?"
"Yeah, so? What's wrong with that?" he said, getting defensive, "It's a perfectly good name for a horse, dunno why people keep asking that..."
"No, nothing wrong with the name! It's just..." Donna gave up, shook her head and walked away. She figured she really should stop trying to make sense of things.
This left the Doctor, standing alone in a corridor with Arthur.
"Humans!" he said, "Never know what they're thinking."
Arthur whinnied in agreement.
