too much entertainment, never enough sleep

Next week is exam week? What's that? I'm too busy procrastinating.

1. Planning my holiday. \o/ ...Yes, I am going on holiday again after this exam week. 1 more week in London, and 4 days in Barcelona with my roommate. We wanted to go to Greece but Barcelona is cheaper, lol. We're planning for Spring Break as well, probably Venice and Amsterdam. Then in the summer Paris, Florence, Prague, and Vienna. lol last year of college? Doing nothing but travelling. Tangentially, apparently tomorrow my mom's flying to New York and my dad's flying to Guangzhou. Direct quote from dad: "The house will be so... lonely. Because no one's there." (???)

2. Menswear Fashion Week!! ...Normally I don't rly care but somehow I ended up watching the Burberry livestream and D&G show today. I loved the Burberry manbags. *_* The ending with the pouring rain on the actual runway was rly impressive, too. Then I wandered over to The Satorialist's blog and he's coming to Seoul! My first thought was "lol oh god if Zhou Mi's picture ever ends up on The Satorialist's blog I will cry." ...Zhou Mi would cry, too. lol I keep getting this mental image of him loitering about the popular trendy spots hoping to be caught on camera.

3. SS3 weekend! Speaking of which I never realized how much I've missed Zhou Mi's face. ;_; The red hair feels a bit 2 years ago and I preferred his black hair but it's okay, he'll be fabulous anyhow. On the other hand, wow Kyuhyun looks bloated and hungover.

4. WGM!! I bawled so hard for Adam couple. ;_; No more Ga-in/Jo Kwon bitching at each other every Saturday. ;__; (Confession: Last week's ep when Kwon suddenly turned and kissed Ga-in I bawled even harder. Wae?) ...There seems to be a lot of crying this week though. Victoria cried, too. ;__;

5. Secret Garden!! lol Tae Sun your smugness is so cute. And I've noticed this for a while... does Mulberry sponsor this show or something? All the girls carry several Mulberry bags. Ra Im in ep 19 carried the black Mulberry Alexa bag that I've always desired because that's my name. I'd always be three times more likely to love something if it's named after my name. /most self-obsessed

6. Making a perfume to-sniff list! And then there's the to-consider-for-purchase list. Idk, if you were just reading from the ad copies, which would you like?

Black Afgano by Nasomatto

A semi-sweet, semi-smoky “liqueur-incense-tobacco” fragrance; its rich notes blend perfectly with cold weather to produce a feeling of well-being. The journey down to the inky heart of Black Afgano is a scent trip only for the daring among you. If you’re a lover of light, bright and airy fragrances, then you’ll want to stop reading right about...now. Aiming to capture the qualities of hashish (without the police banging down your door), mystery and intrigue has followed this perfume since its inception. For those asking the obvious, no, it doesn’t smell exactly like burning hashish... or so we hear, of course. Black Afgano is meant to capture some of the scent qualities and all of the effects of the herb: smoky, smooth and deep; a mellow yet deep and distinct fragrance high. The black colored perfume is a study in how to arouse the effects of temporary bliss, without all the side effects. Rich and hypnotic, with dark and dangerous notes like coffee, oud, tobacco and hash, this is a beautifully relentless and utterly enveloping scent. Black Afgano is a strong smoke and incense fragrance that is surprisingly never overpowering.

#087 by Six Scents Series 3 ft. N.Hoolywood

“…the smell of engine oil in his father’s car; getting off at the Kugenuma Beach train station and inhaling the saltiness of the ocean; the mysterious scent of Kurobe dam releasing water on a cloudy, snowy day; and the clean, relaxing feeling of grooming and bathing captured through the scent of the hiba tree, hinoki wood, cypress, nutmeg and rosemary.” With notes of hiba tree, sugi leaves, green cypress, motor oil, salty-icy water accord, nutmeg, rosemary, hinoki wood, sandalwood and fir balsam.

(I... have a soft spot for N.Hoolywood. My KyuMin model!AU once had a scene set during an N.Hoolywood's show. I... rly like their concepts? Even that show with "The Fountainhead" theme which was the show I featured in the story. Monochromatic golden old America in modern day Tokyo. Why anyone would want an Ayn Rand-themed fashion show idk, but it was intriguing.)

Gris Clair by Serge Lutens (this LJ's namesake!)

Gris Clair, Lutens’s ode to lavender, evokes in our minds the image of a cool flame… a strange, otherworldly flame that illuminates but doesn’t warm and doesn’t burn if you touch it. The wonderfully refined, complex and beautifully ethereal creation beings with a chilly, shimmery, definitely “gray” lavender note. The contrast of the cold lavender and the sweeter, warmer blend of amber and tonka bean in the middle stage is incredibly appealing. Our favorite part of Gris Clair are the elegantly charred, smoky base notes of dry wood and “burned incense”. The darker accord gives Gris Clair an infinite depth and the exotic, opulent feel that we came to associate with the best Lutens’s creations. The chilly lavender, the honeyed amber, the gently smoldering ashes of precious woods and incense create a unique, harmonious and striking, fusion of darkness and luminosity. Absolutely exquisite. With notes of lavender, amber, tonka bean, iris, dry wood, incense.

(uh i'd like to say my other lj is named after Serge Lutens' "Fumerie Turque", a reference to "the honeyed tobaccos smoked in the seraglios of the Ottoman empire and the exotic cigarettes flaunted by the Garçonnes in the gender-bending 1920s" and supposedly evoking "lazy winter afternoons smoking a hookah and nibbling rose-scented Turkish delights in a leather-paneled room".)

2 by Comme des Garcons

Ancient ink in the summer sun, #2 is a study in contrasts. Based on the legendary Sumi ink made in the temples of Japan, this seductive fragrance blends the seared wood notes of Sumi with spiritual scents of incense, patchouli and amber, then takes a turn toward the shiny n' happy with the bright notes of magnolia and ripe, fresh new aldehydes (orange and mandarin). We smell something different every time we wear this-it falls somewhere between a mighty Samurai and a humble priest with a jones for gardening. With notes of Japanese Sumi ink, incense, patchouli, cedarwood, angelica root, vetiver, magnolia, amber, labdanum, new aldehydes, cumin, cade oil, absolute maté, abslolute folia.
