It's cool. Twitter came through for me. One chick's retweet got me in contact with two people who among them took the three kittens. Happy endings for everyone. Engine Cat was among the first to go to a new home. I got to spend some time with Engine Cat's Clone (nearly identical sibling, yet fuzzier) before her new mom came to pick her up. I forgot how tiny and silly kittens are. It's made me really love my adult, giant cats, who never seemed so big until I spent two days holding kittens.

My adult cats are slowly forgiving me for bringing noisy strangers into the apartment. They are not amused when I try to play with them like kittens and keep remarking how huge they are.

Mamacat remains at large. I saw her as I was going to work today. She was sitting under a tree in the rain, still mewing for her lost kittens. I pity her and am angry with her at the same time, which are useless emotions to have at a feral cat. I can't catch her. I can't come within a car length of her. But at night she circles around my building, crying, calling for the kittens who now don't even live here anymore. They're off learning that they like to be petted and fed constantly. They're learning to be domestic instead of climbing into engines.

I'm glad the babies have new homes. Have you considered borrowing a trap for momma? I know there are a number of DFW area trap-neuter-release programs. She'd get spayed, ear-tipped, and released back to stop littering.

I hope to try that, but right now, I have no spare money and no spare time. The kittens were extra terrifying for just that reason.
