Am I wrong to think that our maintenance guy should have an ID badge or something if he's going to knock on my door after 10pm and demand to come in to see if our apartment has leaking pipes? Showing up with a flashlight and a wrench isn't really enough ID, dude ( Read more... )

Um. Yes. Although I'm not sure there's a good "maintenance" badge, but ya know.

Unless you knew they were coming, I wouldn't have opened that door.

Apparently, a leak in our bathtub drain was causing hell for the people downstairs. I didn't know he was coming, and the downstairs people hadn't informed me of anything, but since I wasn't alone, I let him in. And, now I have a new drain for my bathtub. So, problem solved.

And, so true that there isn't really a good badge. But, a business card or something would have been nice. Yes, those can be faked, but certainly take more thought than picking up tools that might be kicking around in the back of your trunk.
